The Department of Pulmonology and Allergology
The Department of Pulmonology and Allergology consists of the Pulmonology and Allergology subdivision and the Intensive Pulmonology and Chemotherapy subdivision. The division has 33 in-patient beds. At the Pulmonology and Allergology subdivision, patients suffering from pulmonary and allergic diseases who require hospitalization but are not in a critical state receive comprehensive care.
The Intensive Pulmonology and Chemotherapy subdivision specializes in treating individuals suffering from pleural diseases, testing for pulmonary hypertension and sleep apnea, and the selection of oxygen supply for people who require oxygen therapy. This sub-division also carries out pleural biopsies, pleural drainage, pleurodesis, and other procedures. This sub-division primarily treats patients suffering from lung cancer. It also treats patients whose pulmonary conditions require intensive therapy or non-invasive pulmonary ventilation.
The Department of Interventional Pulmonology and Respiratory Function Diagnostics
The Department of Interventional Pulmonology and Respiratory Function Diagnostics consists of the Interventional Pulmonology subdivision and 3 respiratory function test offices (one is located at the in-patient center and two are at the Consultation polyclinic). This division performs complex invasive pulmonary procedures (bronchoscopy, pulmonary biopsy, lung cryobiopsy, respiratory airway stenting, lung abscess catheterization, pleural biopsies, pleural draining, etc.).
The pulmonary function testing offices work with spirometric, pulmonary capacity, gas diffusion, physical capacity, and exertion provocation tests. They also execute bronchial exertion tests with methacholine and nitrogen monoxide exhalation tests.
The Pulmonology and Allergology consultation offices at the Consultation polyclinic
The Pulmonology and Allergology center has three pulmonological offices, two allergological offices, and two respiratory function test offices. Patients suffering from all pulmonary and allergic diseases receive consultations and/or out-patient treatment.
The Allergic and Immune Disease Diagnostics and Treatment Out-patient center
Physician prof. Laura Malinauskienė is responsible for work done at the The Allergic and Immune Disease Diagnostics and Treatment Out-patient center.
At the Lung cancer chemotherapy outpatient center, patients suffering from malicious pulmonary growths receive ambulatory treatment.
