The Informatics and Development Center (IDC), a part of Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics, is a leader in healthcare innovation and technology. We implement cutting-edge information systems and technologies that ensure efficient patient care, improve service quality, and enhance the safety and reliability of healthcare processes. The center coordinates a wide range of initiatives related to data management, electronic health record integration, medical equipment connectivity, and IT infrastructure development.
We have developed an advanced Hospital Information System (ELI), which includes electronic health records, laboratory data, image archives, and other essential systems. ELI is used not only at Santaros Clinics but also in other hospitals across Lithuania, serving as a foundation for effective healthcare service delivery nationwide.
The IDC is also actively involved in various project-based activities, including both national and international IT projects aimed at strengthening the healthcare IT ecosystem and ensuring better data management and service efficiency. Nationally, the center contributes to the development and improvement of systems that enhance inter-hospital collaboration and ensure data security and accessibility. Internationally, the IDC takes part in projects focused on innovation implementation and the creation of shared standards for more efficient healthcare delivery and improved patient outcomes.
These projects range from medical equipment integration to the development of complex IT infrastructures, ensuring the implementation and support of state-of-the-art technologies. The IDC is also engaged in international initiatives promoting the integration of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and other innovative solutions in the healthcare sector—contributing to the development and application of global healthcare standards.
Our data center, which stores over 3 petabytes of medical data and more than 2 million images, ensures high-speed data processing and security. It supports key systems such as ELI, PACS, MEDPAS, and others—enabling efficient and reliable health data management and security throughout the organization.
Our team of over 100 highly qualified professionals—including IT and IS specialists, data analysts, medical IT experts, software developers, system architects, healthcare process specialists, and project managers—continuously improve technological solutions, upholding the highest service standards and paving the way for future innovations. Each specialist contributes to different areas: IT and IS professionals develop and maintain information systems, data analysts optimize data management and analysis, and healthcare experts ensure that technological solutions meet the requirements of the medical and healthcare fields.
The IDC consists of 8 divisions, including the IT Department, IT Project Group, Data Management Department, Data Inventory and Standardization Group, Information Department, Information Systems Department, IT Helpdesk Groups, and Computer Workstation Maintenance Groups. These units ensure the smooth operation and continuous improvement of all IDC solutions. Additionally, we provide a range of IT services to other institutions, offering advanced solutions and stability in the healthcare sector.
